'Shrek' opens with monster weekend
LOS ANGELES, (UPI) -- "Shrek Forever After" opened strong with $71.25 million in gross box office receipts to take the No. 1 spot for the weekend.
"Iron Man 2" still did well, coming in a No. 2 with $26.6 million in its third weekend.
"Robin Hood" was third with $18.7 million.
All studio estimates are from Box Office Mojo.
"Letters to Juliet" was fourth with $9.1 million; "Just Wright" fifth with more than $4.22 million; "MacGruber" sixth with $4.1 million; "Date Night" seventh with more than $2.82 million; "A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)" eighth with more than $2.28 million; and "How to Train Your Dragon) ninth with $1.85 million.
"Kites" rounded out the top 10 with $952,000 in limited release.
