Teen throws baby in front of bus

LONDON, A teenage girl allegedly snatched a 7-month-old from the arms of the infant's sister and threw him into the path of an oncoming bus in south London, police say.

Seven-month-old Tavish Dabedeen hit his head and suffered bumps and bruises in the attack about 7:15 p.m. July 27 at a Croydon train station, Sky News reported Wednesday.

The bus driver managed to swerve and avoid hitting the baby, who was taken to the hospital.

"He is lucky to be alive, he hit his head and had bumps and bruises but other than that he is fine," Tavish's father, Rajiv Dabedeen, said.

Dabedeen says he believes the incident was a targeted attack conducted by two teenage schoolmates who'd been bullying Tavish's sister because she suffers from a skin condition, Sky News said.

"I want the school and council to do more to tackle this problem," Dabedeen said. "If this had been sorted earlier this may not have happened. My son could have died."
