A stretch of Yonge Street is closed as Toronto fire crews battle a major fire at Yonge and Gould streets.

Three firefighters have been injured, including two who fell through the roof of an adjacent building, CBC videographer Tony Smyth said.

There was no word on the extent of their injuries.

A Toronto police spokesman said there are road closures from Yonge Street from Gerrard Street south to Dundas Street.

The fire has also forced the TTC to stop service on the 505 Dundas streetcar route between Bay and Church streets.

Police could not say exactly when the fire started, but the spokesman said emergency officials were notified around 4:30 a.m. ET.
