West Bank government set to be disbanded
RAMALLAH
, West Bank, The West Bank government led by Premier Salam Fayyad will be disbanded next week, a high-ranking official of Fatah says.
Parliament speaker Azzam al-Ahmad said a new Palestinian Authority Cabinet will be selected and Fayyad or another politician will be charged with forming a government, the Maan News Agency reported Wednesday.
Reports of a Cabinet reshuffle in the Ramallah-based government surfaced after general elections set for January were postponed.
The move was confirmed in May after President Mahmoud Abbas sanctioned indirect talks with Israel.
Abbas will consult with Palestinian factions about the new structure of the Palestinian Authority, the Maan News Agency said.
