What do I have to do to get my PS3 and laptop to recongize one another?

I have my PS3 and laptop on the same wireless DSL setup but I can't seem to get them to find one another. Is this a me problem or will this not work. The computer is running Windows XP.

The only way your PS3 and laptop will recognize each other is by installing Linux OS on your PS3.An out-of-the-box PS3 is not compatible with Windows XP.Hope this helps. Good luck!

u mean the media server thing? if so u need media player 11 installed on ur laptop.then open media player and go to tools, then options, then click library, then click configure.then search for media servers on ur ps3 and it should find 1,u will then get a message on ur laptop....watever it says, allow it to share files. then click ok and exit media player.then search again for media servers on ur ps3 and click on ur laptop's name that shows on ur ps3.then u can open files depending on wot menu ur on ps3 for example....if ur in music menu on the ps3 u will see no other files except compatable music files. to see pictures or videos use the right menu and access the media server.u must have ps3 firmware version updated to at least 1.80 for this feature.
