BALTIMORE – Authorities say an actress who appeared on the HBO series "The Wire" is among 63 people charged as part of a joint state-federal prosecution of a large east Baltimore drug gang.
Police say Felicia "Snoop" Pearson, who played a killer of the same name on the hit television series, is among 38 arrested in early morning raids carried out by about 450 federal, state and local officers Thursday. Authorities are still working to arrest the remaining 25 people charged.
Commissioner Frederick Bealefeld says officers seized $65,000, four guns, marijuana and heroin in "Operation Usual Suspects."
The federal indictment, which charges more than 15 people with conspiracy to distribute drugs, states that since 2008, members have bought heroin from New York and marijuana from California and sell it on the streets of Baltimore.
