With Barack Obama winning the U.S. presidential race, what's next for the satellite - and multiplatform - businesses?
It certainly will lead to a sea change in U.S. politics - and for communications policy. But how it works out for the satellite business is uncertain, at least at this point.
One thing is for sure: It's expected that reauthorization of the Satellite Home Viewer Extension Reauthorization Act (SHVERA) will be a 2009 priority for Congress (which also became an even stronger Democrat stronghold with this year's election). Tied to the debate on that provision could be retransmission consent.
