Woman detained due to similar apron
CORDOVA, Tenn., (UPI) -- The owner of a Tennessee bakery said she was detained by police after a similarly garbed woman robbed a bank across the street from her business.
Lynette Hill, 28, owner of Carnival Food in Cordova, said she was detained Tuesday morning after a woman wearing clothing strongly resembling her blue shirt and dark apron ensemble robbed the bank across the street from her business, which specializes in fair-style foods including deep-fried Twinkies, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported Thursday.
However, Hill said she was set free after police determined she did not meet the rest of the suspect's description. Investigators said the apron-clad robber was described as in her 30s and about 180 pounds, larger than the 28-year-old business owner's slender frame. The suspect also wore her copper-colored hair in a bouffant, as opposed to Hill's long, black hair.
Hill, who wore a red shirt to work Wednesday to avoid further comparisons to the bank robber, said the situation was not all bad, as her appearance on the local news brought in many new customers who were previously unaware of the store.
