Xinhua initiates CNC English service
BEIJING, (UPI) -- China's state-run Xinhua news agency Thursday announced the beginning of operations for its CNC World, a 24-hour daily English language TV news program.
With presence in more than 130 nations, Xinhua said it is the first international news agency to run a television news network.
CNC World, part of an effort to keep pace with the fast-developing global media industry, will cover breaking news and major political, economic and cultural news around the globe, Xinhua said.
"CNC will present an international vision with a China perspective. It will broadcast news reports timely and objectively and be a new source of information for global audiences," Li Congjun, the news agency's president, said.
CNC World said it aims to be an "unbiased global news network that offers objective, comprehensive, in-depth and multi-dimensional news coverage and an alternative source of information for the global audience."
The announcement said CNC World will be available by October on cable networks in regions including the United States.
