You may want to keep an eye on this unit, it appears that they run hot and may need
an extra cooling fan mod, unless they have corrected that problem lately.

Good advice -----these unit do require extra cooling to operate properly.
Mods you do are determine by your expertise in soldering .

Easiest mod is to add a Labtop cooling fan to the Top of the unit.

You would think that any responsible manufacturer would
correct an issue like this as soon as humanly possible.
It can only mean one thing for the business, bad reputation.
I won't be buying one of these unless they correct the problem!

At least viewsat did put a fan in their 9000hd. Don't hear too many peeps complaining about that stb and over heating, although I do let the external fan blow on it too while I'm watching it but the lid is on that one and no lappy cooler needed.

well VS9000HD first version with no fan got so hot the solder would melt on the board.they came out with version 2 with a built in fan .mine is 3 years old in a hot room with wood stove and no issues at all and i never shut it off runs 24/7.

Thinking about that one, but I guess it would be a bit pricey by the time I got everything I needed for it..

The Ilink9500HD does have a cooling fan from the factory.

Keeps it cool until you add an 8PSK board to the unit for provider TV HD Channels.
