is there any software to capture and transfer video from sony handycamDCR TVR 285E to laptop.?

actually i lost software CD came with handycam and its CDROM number also so i can't download from sony site.i tried to download from torrent site then it showing compitibility problem with window 7 OS. plz suggest any good software or CDROM no.,if any one have the same handycam or any other way to transfer.

Windows Movie Maker will work fine. The newest version allows you to capture footage off your camera. You will need a 6 pin or 9 pin firewire cable. The problem with playing back your tape on the camera you recorded them on is it wears down the heads. (tape heads). If you play back too much, you're heads will explode and the camera will die.
