MLB: Texas 2, Oakland 1 (12 innings)
ARLINGTON, Texas, (UPI) -- Michael Young scored on Vladimir Guerrero's 12th-inning single Thursday, giving the Texas Rangers a 2-1 win over the Oakland Athletics.

Texas, which has won six of its last seven, had runners thrown out at home in the seventh and ninth inning and loaded the bases in the 10th but were unable to score.

But in the 12th, Young walked with one out and took second on a Josh Hamilton single before Guerrero ended the game with a drive to the left-center field gap.

Guerrero's hit handed Andrew Bailey (1-1) the loss. He was the sixth Oakland pitcher, including starter Ben Sheets who allowed three hits over six innings.

Dustin Nippert (2-3), the sixth pitcher for the Rangers, won. Starter C.J. Wilson gave up four hits over seven innings.

Texas took a 1-0 lead in the third inning when Julio Borbon walked with two out, stole second and scored on a single by Elvis Andrus, who ended with four hits on the day. The A's tied the score the next inning on a Josh Donaldson bases-loaded bloop base hit.
