Big Ten chooses Indy for title game

PARK RIDGE, Ill., The Big Ten Conference announced Thursday the league's first championship game will likely be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

A Big Ten championship contest was made a part of the 2011 schedule after the league became a 12-team conference with the addition of the University of Nebraska.

Commissioner Jim Delany said conference officials hope to negotiate a one-year agreement with the stadium during the next 30 days.

"We felt at this time it was important to identify a site for the first championship game," Delany said.

Nebraska joins the Big Ten July 1, 2011.
