NBC shows support for Matt Lauer

NEW YORK, (UPI) -- NBC News's "Today" show in New York has issued a statement of support for co-anchor Matt Lauer, the subject of recent infidelity rumors.

Media reports have claimed the popular television personality cheated on Annette, his wife of 12 years, and partied wildly with his co-workers while covering the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, eventually leading to a separation between him and the mother of his three children.

"The allegations surrounding Matt Lauer are completely inaccurate and unfounded," said a statement issued by "Today" Wednesday. "These accusations are reckless and harmful to the Lauer family. Equally reckless, irresponsible and inaccurate are the accusations about his 'Today' show colleagues. Matt and his wife have spoken out on this on the record and will not be discussing it further."
