Calgary police are asking anyone who can identify this man to contact Crime Stoppers.

Calgary police have released a composite sketch of a person they believe is directly involved in the 2008 slaying of Juan Carlos Dequina.

Dequina, 21, was found shot to death inside his car, parked on an isolated gravel road near the intersection of 53rd Street and 146th Avenue S.W., in December 2008. Police say Dequina was shot twice from inside the car as the sat in the driver's seat, and it's believed the suspects fled in a second vehicle.

Police say Dequina was not known to them prior to his death, had no ties to criminal activity and is believed to be "an innocent victim."

After receiving several tips from the public and reviewing surveillance video seized after Dequina's death, police say they were able to create a sketch of a person "believed to be directly involved in the killing."

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man between the ages of 25 and 35 with a slim build.

Evidence found at the scene also led investigators to the make and model of a car believed to have been at the scene of the crime. Police are also searching for a grey 2008 Mazda GX3.

Police are hoping to identify the person in the sketch and link him to the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
