Miyazato claims LPGA Classic, top ranking
GALLOWAY, N.J., (UPI) -- Ai Miyazato became the world's top-ranked female golfer Sunday after posting her fourth win of the year, a two-shot victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Miyazato charged from behind to win the event, carding a 7-under-par 64 to finish at 16-under 197, two clear of second-round leader M.J. Hur (68) at the Dolce Seaview Resort in Galloway, N.J.

Miyazato claimed the lead with a tap-in birdie on the ninth hole and was never headed, draining a 25-footer for birdie at the 10th and a 15-foot birdie putt on the 14th.

Hur challenged with birdies 16 and 17 to get within two, but Miyazato poured in a 6-footer for birdie on the final hole to gain the winner's circle.

Miyazato's amazing year has made her the fourth player to be ranked No. 1 since the rankings started in 2006.

Inbee Park registered a 4-under 67, claiming sole possession of third place at minus-12. Suzann Pettersen (66) tied for fourth place with Hee Won Han (68) and Katherine Hull (69) at 11-under 202.
