LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Hospital officials in Arkansas say 10 youngsters were sickened after they drank windshield wiper fluid that staff at their daycare centre mistook for Kool-Aid.
A pediatrician at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock says the children - ages two to six - are OK, but continue to be monitored. The doctor says each child drank about 30 millilitres or an ounce of the liquid late Thursday afternoon.
The hospital did not identify the daycare.
State child welfare officials did not immediately return a call for comment.
The fluid contained toxic alcohol compounds. A pediatric toxicologist says those chemicals can cause kidney damage and blindness.
