3 killed by gunmen in Karachi

KARACHI, Pakistan, (UPI) -- At least three people were killed Saturday as gunfights between political groups continued in Pakistan's largest city, police said.

Investigators said the three were victims of targeted killings in three Karachi neighborhoods, the Dawn newspaper said. Several other people were injured.

Police closed stores in two neighborhoods in Shah Faisal Colony because of political violence. Neighborhood residents forced shops to shut in another area where gunmen attacked a vehicle, fatally wounding one of its occupants.

Residents in Shah Faisal burned tires to stop traffic.

At least 120 people have been killed in political violence in June in Karachi, Pakistan's biggest city and major port.
