Bail jumper gets 6 more months

BUFFALO, N.Y., A bail jumper caught when New York police tracked his whereabouts using MySpace and Facebook had 6 months in jail added to his previous sentence.

Christopher Crego, 39, formerly of Buffalo, was sentenced Wednesday to 6 months in prison on a bail jumping charge, with the time added to his previous March 17 sentence of 1 year and 15 days for misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault and driving while ability impaired by alcohol, The Buffalo News reported Thursday.

Officials said the 6 months will be served concurrently with another 6-month sentence he received in Buffalo City Court on an animal cruelty charge for shooting a BB gun at birds.

Crego fled the state after the initial charges were filed and took a job as a tattoo artist in Terre Haute, Ind. Police tracked him using information from his social networking accounts, including the address of the tattoo parlor he was working at, and he was arrested Feb. 3.
