Bell Gets New Bird for TV Distribution
Senior staff from Telesat Canada will be at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan for the launch of the company's state-of-the-art Nimiq 4 satellite over the weekend.
Nimiq 4 is fully leased to Bell, for its ExpressVu satellite TV service, as well as other advanced digital satellite television service offerings across North America, includiong foreign-language programming, high-definition TV and specialty channel services.
The new spacecraft, manufactured by EADS Astrium, will be located at 82° West orbital position and will carry 32 active high-power transponders in Ku-band and eight in Ka-band.
Nimiq 4 has launch mass of approximately 4850 kg and an expected mission life of 15-years
