The RCMP confirm that they discovered a man's body Monday on a rural property near Davidson — an area police have been scouring since Rob Vicente's disappearance near there more than four months ago.
Vicente was last seen at a Davidson gas station on Oct. 10. His burned-out car was found 30 kilometres away two days later.
The body has not been positively identified, though police said Vicente's family has been made aware of the development.
Police say the body will be taken to Regina for an autopsy scheduled to take place on Friday.
Meanwhile, just hours before the discovery, Darak More, 22, and Devin Schmit, 20, made their first appearance in court in Regina in connection with the case.
Both More and Schmit are accused of the first-degree murder of Vicente.
They were remanded in custody until their next court appearance March 1.
Vicente's mother Pam spoke with reporters following the appearance.
Pam Vicente – who had not yet been informed about the discovery of a body near Davidson – said outside court, "I guess we find solace in the fact that the suspects are in custody and that we are one step closer in getting justice for Rob, but we don't feel like we thought we would…I mean, that glimmer of hope is gone."
"Just please remember: Rob was a victim of a senseless crime," she said.
"He was not friends with either of the suspects. He wasn't in any trouble. He was just an ordinary guy [and] had his whole life ahead of him."
