Police divers have found the body a man who appears to have fallen out of a boat near Newfoundland's Trinity Bay.

The body was recovered by RCMP divers at about 3:30 p.m.Tuesday afternoon in Seal Cove Pond.

The Brownsdale resident, 49, was last seen fishing on the pond Sunday morning.

On Monday, Sgt. Marc Coulombe said people saw the man standing in a boat and then saw a splash.

"Two people tried to rush over to where his boat was and by the time they got there they couldn't find him," Coulombe said.

"We had some people do their own search prior to calling the police. They made an excellent attempt at trying to locate the individual, but unfortunately were unsuccessful."

Coulombe said the man, who's name hasn't been released, was not wearing a personal flotation device.
