DRESDEN, Ontario, Canadian investigators say military dental records from World War II have identified the skeletal remains found at the bottom of an Ontario well in April.

The records confirmed the bones as those of Clint Brown, a World War II veteran who was last seen in 1975 on his way to a doctor's appointment, Chatham-Kent police announced Friday.

Brown was a 61-year-old bachelor at the time. He had served with the Canadian military in Italy during the war and had spent 18 months as a prisoner of war, CBC News said.

Brown lived in a mobile home in the town of Dresden. His remains were discovered in a covered well behind a house in the same community by a man who was working on his backyard deck.

What happened to Brown remained a mystery Saturday although a post-mortem examination indicated he had not been injured prior to him winding up at the bottom of the well.
