Do I have to pay a fee to use the TiVo with my Pansat 3500 SD??

I am a newbie and have just got my Pansat 3500 Sd working!!!

I am going to get a TiVo (Serties 2) use with my Pansat 3500 SD.
My questions are:

1) Do I have to pay a monthly fee to use the TiVo????

2) Can I use the TiVo to record and playback without paying a monthly fee??

Yes you have to pay for tivo the first 3 months are free then is $12.95 per month after that...

Yes you have to pay. If you do not pay the TiVo box that you bought is a dead stick. So you buy the box and it is yours. But you can't use it until you buy the "service." The "service" is a guide to the channels you get. They do not provide programming just a "channel guide" for the box that you already bought.

The only way around this that I have found is to unsolder an intergraded circuit from the box that you own and replace it with another chip so that you can use the box that you bought.

I wish that someone (smarter that me) could figure out the *snippet of code* which TIVO sends to the box that you bought and own so that the box will work. If someone could figure out that little *snippet of code* then a person could do what they wanted to with the box that they own. (I am no coder)

Those are my thoughts. I bought a TIVO but will never recommend it to anyone. It would be better to make my own computer setup to do what TIVO charges to do.
