The disappearance of an Edmonton police constable on the weekend is under investigation by the Missing Persons Unit.

Const. Ronnie Chiu, 46, was last seen Sunday at 8 p.m. when he left work from a police facility near 88th Street and 51st Avenue. He didn't show up for his shift on Monday which is considered to be out of character for him.

No one has been able to reach him on his cell phone since then.

"Really our main concern is that (A) we don't know where he is and (B) we haven't been able to locate his vehicle," said Const. Sean Jenkinson with the Missing Persons Unit.

"So really what we're hoping for is that all the extra eyes and the public's help seeing him sometime after 8 p.m. on the Sunday.".

Chiu is 6'2", 200 lbs., and has no hair.

He was last seen wearing a white golf shirt with horizontal blue striping, blue jeans, dark shoes, a light coloured baseball cap and glasses.

Chiu was driving his green 1998 GMC Sierra truck with licence plate SVE 078. The truck has an extended cab with what police describe as "a distinctive metal roll-up tonneau cover."
