Explosion kills man outside W.Va. bar
BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va., (UPI) -- A man died outside a West Virginia bar Saturday when a pipe bomb he had brought detonated, police said.
No one else was injured in the 2:30 a.m. blast in Barboursville in the southwestern part of the state, CNN reported.
"We have an individual that brought explosive devices outside of the business. One of the devices detonated, proving fatal for the individual," Cabell County Sheriff's Department Sheriff Tom McComas said.
Police said they evacuated scores of people from an apartment complex, mobile homes and 20 to 25 houses while searching for other bombs.
Angie Ferguson, assistant supervisor of Cabell County 911, said another pipe bomb that had not been detonated was found.
Authorities said the investigation was continuing but provided few details. "We're still in the infancy of this investigation," McComas said.
Ferguson called the blast an isolated incident and said it was unlikely it was related to terrorism. "We don't have much of that here," she said.
