A spectacular Christmas Day fire destroyed a landmark hotel in Dominion City, Man., but caused no injuries.

Firefighters were called just after 6 a.m. Saturday to the former Queen's Hotel, built in 1879 and rebuilt in 1948.

The hotel, renamed Stan's Place, was taken over by new ownership about eight years ago.

There were no guests in the hotel at the time of the blaze.

The fire commissioner's office is investigating. Damage is estimated at $700,000.

Dominion City, population about 350, is about 80 kilometres south of Winnipeg.
