Two Nova Scotia fishermen spent four hours in a life-raft Sunday after their lobster boat caught fire off Yarmouth.

The fire aboard the vessel Double Identity broke out at about 6 a.m. Trent Shaw and his son Travis jumped off the sinking boat and into a life-raft.

The two men drifted for about four hours until they were within cellphone range to call for help, said Mike Bonin, spokesman for the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Halifax.

Bonin said two coast guard ships and a Cormorant helicopter were sent to rescue the men, but another fishing boat had already picked them up.

The two men were taken home to Pinkney's Point.

There was no word on what caused the fire.
