Fixing a dead CS5000 or CS6000.

If you have a CS5000 or 6000 with the following issues:
1. No power on the front display or
2. Front display lights seem fading or dim symptoms.

The steps to follow to fix the problem is as follows:

1. Disconnect the receiver from the AC outlet as well any other cable(s)before start the repair process.
2. Remove the screws to remove the top lid.
3. Once the power supply assembly has been remove from the chassis, discharge the capacitor using a flat screwdriver by shorting both leads at the same time. NOTE: Be very careful when doing it. HOLD the screwdriver by the well insulated plastic handle.
4. Using a desoldering iron or desolder sucker remove C21 (1000uF/6.3 volts).
5. Replace C21 using the same capacitance of 1000uF/6.3 volts or a higher voltage is acceptable if the part does not interfere with the adjacent capacitors. The originator used 1000Uf/35 volts.
6. Before installing the power supply assembly back on the chassis, make sure to check for correct polarity on the capacitor that was replaced.
7. Power the receiver ON, you should be able to see the front display lights ON.
