GlobeCast Supports Showtime Arabia, Sky's Broadband Strategy
GlobeCast signed a five-year deal with Showtime Arabia to provide content management and delivery services for 13 global channels. Services include multiplexing, uplink and aggregation as well as playout from GlobeCast's central London Technical Operations Center --- For those who didn't know, British Sky Broadcasting has a growing (1.6 million users and counting) broadband component to its service. And recently, the company removed its fair use policy, which capped heavy downloads, from its top-tier Sky Broadband Max tier. BSkyB plans to market and promote its "unlimited broadband" offering among U.K. customers, an effort that promises to take aim at broadband competitors.
