To play this heist version, it will depend on the option you chose at the end of the Scouting the Port mission.
If you chose the Offshore version of this heist, you will require 2 heist setup missions called 'Minisub', and 'Cargobob'
However, it is recommended you first get Michael the Flight School training since he'll be flying the 'Cargobob'.
Before you can get the helicopter training you first need to complete all the airplane training. Once you do, helicopters will handle better. (You do not NEED to do the Flight School to begin this heist, but it helps.)
Minisub:
NOTE: You must first finish the Minisub mission before you can begin this heist.
Drive to the way point at the pier.
Once here, you will see the sub hanging from a crane above a Freighter. Board the Freighter, wait for the guard to move away from you and go to the green dot on your mini map. Press the sub release button, jump in the water and drive it to the way point.
Once the sub is on the truck, drive the flatbed carefully to the final way point.
To get gold:
- Mission Time - Finish the job in 8 minutes and 30 seconds
- No Boarding - Steal the sub without boarding the boat. You can do this by shooting the cables holding the sub, with a Sniper Rifle.
The second mission you must finish before you can begin this heist is called 'Cargobob'.
You must steal the cargobob from Fort Zancudo. Switch to Trevor to do this.
Head to Fort Zancudo and drive or run straight through the front gate. Head directly to the chopper, only shooting if you need to.
You should be able to fly right out, just do it fast.
Fly to the checkpoint and set it down to finish the mission.
To get gold:
- Time - Finish the mission within 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Don't take up time killing guys, go straight to the cargobob.
The Merryweather Heist - Offshore version:

NOTE: Before you can begin this heist, you will need to wait for Ron to call you. Complete other missions to kill time while you wait for the call. Alternatively, calling Ron may also get the mission started.
Head to Floyd's apartment to begin the mission.
Jump in Trevor's truck and drive it to the way point in Sandy Shores Airfield.
Jump in the cargobob, hover over the sub and gently move into position until it's connected.
Fly the chopper to the way point.
Now get low and drop the sub near the way point.
You will be automatically switched to Trevor.
Using 'Trackify', point the sub at the red dot on your sonar.
Once there, lower the sub over the device to obtain it, then return to the surface.
Now switch to Michael.
You now have to re-attach the sub. This can be hard, just make slow and gentle movements.
Once it's attached, head back to Sandy Shores Airfield.
But before you can get there Merryweather will show up with helicopters and boats.
Switch to Franklin and take them out. Try to aim for the Pilots and Drivers not the vehicles.
Now switch back to Michael and continue to fly back to Sandy Shores Airfield.
Once you arrive, get low and drop the sub from a safe altitude or you will destroy it and fail the mission.
To get gold:
- Salvager - Find the container within 2 minutes.
- Time - Complete the mission within 14 minutes 30 seconds. Attaching the sub will take the most time, don't over-compensate-with the-stick.
- Show no Mercenary - Eliminate the pursuing Merryweather mercenaries. Just shoot at thee pilots and drivers.
- Weathering the Storm - Escape the mercenaries in less than four minutes. Again shoot the pilots and drivers.
