Harley to stop making sidecars
MILWAUKEE, Harley-Davidson Inc., maker of the iconic U.S. motorcycles, has announced it will soon make its last sidecar.

The Milwaukee company said Friday production will stop once existing orders are filled, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. In a statement, it said demand for sidecars has dropped significantly with more customers seeking trikes or three-wheeled motorcycles.

The sidecar is an attachment with one-wheel that can carry a passenger and effectively turns a motorcycle into a three-wheeled vehicle. Harley began making them in 1914, eight years after William Harley and the Davidson brothers sold their first motorcycles.

Harley said all sidecar warranties will be honored, and parts and service will be available.
