How do you compare Intel and AMD in Ghz?

They are the same speed, you'd have to check if one has a higher Cache level? Or overclocking capabilities. Heating, voltage, etc..

There is no way to directly compare them just by their speed. Currently Intel CPUS have much better performance in the number of instructions completed per cycle than AMD cpu's. While Intel's cpu's are much better currently, AMD products are still good. Your best bet is to check out hardware sites like Tom's Hardware, Anandtech, FiringSquad and so on for their reviews and comparisons.

You can't compare them on Ghz speed alone. Intel is more expensive, but they provide a more powerful product.AMD is cheaper, but it usually offers the best performance for your dollar. So if you have the money, go Intel, if you don't, go AMD.tomshardware.com/charts/desktop-cpu-charts-q3-2008/3DMark-Vantage-CPU,817.html
