how to install my new cpu amd phenom 2?

i had a amd athlon cpu and i recently bought a new phenom. but when i install it my computer just goes blkack on startup and wont do anything. any help plz.

Did you confirm that your motherboard supports the new CPU? Did you confirm that your BIOS version supports the new CPU? Did you clean the thermal compound off the heat sink and apply fresh thermal compound? Did you properly reconnect the CPU fan? Did anything go wrong in the replacement process that you're not telling us about?
