I am buying a new cpu. I have decided upon AMD Phenom II X2 Black Edition, a 2GB Transend DD2 RAM and a 250GB Seagate Hardisk. I am confused about the motherboard can any one give any suggestions on what make to buy or what to look for while searching for motherboards...thanks

GIGABYTE GA-MA78LM-S2 AM3http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128407Look for CPU Support, number of Expansion Slots, and ATX or Micro ATX size to name a few.

That depends on which of the many black edition X2s you are talking about. Those range in price from $54 to $100. The motherboard is usually in the same general price as the processor or a bit more in that range. Also, unless you have the DDR2 memory already from a previous system or something, I'd go with DDR3 memory. My short list would look something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=Property&Subcategory=22&Description=&Type=&N=2010200022&srchInDesc=&MinPrice=40&MaxPrice=90&OEMMark=0&Manufactory=1307&Manufactory=1414&Manufactory=1312&Manufactory=1315&Manufactory=1314&PropertyCodeValue=709%3A47010&PropertyCodeValue=709%3A46434&PropertyCodeValue=709%3A46178&PropertyCodeValue=3880%3A27176&PropertyCodeValue=3879%3A29256&PropertyCodeValue=3879%3A31642&PropertyCodeValue=3879%3A31643&PropertyCodeValue=3879%3A29275 with the Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128397 as one to look at seriously. Again, it would depend on how much I was spending for the other components though.
