hey, well let me ask you some questions first. what linux printing subsystem are you using? CUPS? or the traditional line printer spooling? and scanner standard? just let me know. if using any of these check lexmark website they have Linux Printer Driver Developer's Kit for programmers to follow an architecture in place to custom make drivers and such. hope that helps.
