Intelsat and Sonema, SES Delivers Met Coverage, SIA and Homeland Security

Intelsat said that Sonema, a provider of telecom services in Europe and Africa, expanded its current agreement with the satellite services provider for contracted satellite capacity. Sonema uses Intelsat capacity to provide satellite communication transmissions to businesses, such as financial institutions, in isolated regions of Africa --- SES AMERICOM and All Mobile Video said they are delivering a series of live Met performances to theaters across the United States and Canada. Productions from the Met's new season, which includes "Doctor Atomic" and "Madama Butterfly," will air live in high-def via satellite on big screens on select Saturday afternoons through the spring --- The Department of Homeland Security and its National Coordinating Center has selected the Satellite Industry Association to become a member of the Communications Information Sharing and Analysis Center. The effort at the Homeland Security Department is a joint industry-government body that engages telecom companies to assist in the development of national security and emergency preparedness.
