Lang leads by one at U.S. Women's Open
OAKMONT, Pa., (UPI) -- Brittany Lang held a one-shot lead over amateur Kelli Shean Thursday after the first round of the U.S. Women's Open Championship at Oakmont, Pa.
Lang shot a 2-under 69 and was one of only five players to break par at Oakmont.
Lang, who is seeking her first LPGA victory, bogeyed her final hole but remained a step ahead of Shean, who finished in a tie for second with 2008 tournament champ Inbee Park, Amy Yang and M.J. Hur.
Michelle Wie turned in a disastrous round, stumbling in with an 11-over-par 82 and failing to record a single birdie.
