Liberty Moves on DIRECTV Equity Collar, DISH Debuts Pasiones, SkyREPORT Br

Liberty Media said it has chosen to unwind 50 percent of the first tranche of a DIRECTV equity collar it entered into in April. The first tranche expires in 2009 and originally had 22.5 million DIRECTV shares. As a result of the partial unwind, the tranche now has 11.25 million DIRECTV shares. Liberty said its ownership interest in DIRECTV was not impacted by the transaction --- DISH Network launched Pasiones, a 24-hour Spanish channel dedicated to the soap opera/telenovela genre. Pasiones is part of DISH's new comprehensive DishMEXICO package, which caters exclusively to the U.S. Mexican audience. The channel is also available via DishLATINO packages --- Please note, due to the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be no SkyREPORT updates Thursday and Friday. The news resumes Monday, Dec. 1.
