York Regional Police say the remains found in a wooded area of Markham, Ont., were those of missing teen Anoush Verdi.
Police did not release a cause of death, but said late Tuesday that foul play is suspected and officers from the homicide unit were investigating.
A man walking through the park found the body in a wooded area near Tomlinson Park in Markham, just north of Toronto.
Verdi had been missing since July 13, 2010, when he left his house in the area of Bur Oak Avenue and Ninth Line in Markham.
