SAN FRANCISCO, -- Miguel Montero's bases-clearing double highlighted a six-run first inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks went on to rip San Francisco 11-3.
After Adam LaRoche gave the D-backs a 1-0 lead with an RBI groundout, Montero slammed a pitch off the base of the left-field wall, driving in three runs and giving the D-backs the momentum they needed for their third straight win.
LaRoche homered and drove in three runs and Mark Reynolds powered a three-run round-tripper for the victors.
Daniel Hudson (4-1) gave up two runs on four hits over seven innings of work, walking two and striking out six.
Giants starter Barry Zito (8-10) was raked for nine runs in just 3 2/3 innings.
San Francisco fell 1 1/2 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League wild card race with the setback.
