MLB: Boston 4, San Francisco 2

SAN FRANCISCO, (UPI) -- Darnell McDonald and Mike Cameron launched homers Saturday and the Boston Red Sox beat San Francisco 4-2 in an inter-league game.

McDonald's solo blast gave the Sox a first-inning lead and Cameron broke the game open in second with a three-run clout, helping Boston take the second of three games with the Giants at AT&T Park.

The victory came at a big cost for the Red Sox. Starting pitcher Clay Buchholz hyper-extended his knee while being erased on a first-inning double play following his first major league hit.

Buchholz was seeking his American League-leading 11th win. Instead, seven Red Sox relievers combined to limit the Giants to two runs on five hits.

Scott Atchison (1-1) was credited with the win and Jonathan Papelbon collected his 17th save with a scoreless ninth.

Giants rookie Madison Bumgarner (0-1) absorbed the loss after being called up from Triple-A Fresno.
