CHICAGO, Edwin Jackson allowed three hits and struck out 10 over eight innings Thursday, carrying the Chicago White Sox to an 8-0 blanking of Baltimore.
In four starts for the White Sox since being obtained from Arizona, Jackson (8-10) has given up three earned runs in 28 innings. He is 2-0 in those starts.
After Jackson threw 109 pitches, Tony Pena came on in the ninth to complete the shutout.
The Chicago offense was highlighted by three RBI from Alex Rios, who had a run-scoring single in the fourth to give the White Sox a 4-0 lead and a two-run homer in the eighth.
Chicago had 14 hits, only two of which went for extra bases.
Jake Arrieta (4-6) took the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits in four innings.
The White Sox stayed within 3 1/2 games of first-place Minnesota in the American League Central after the Twins defeated Texas.
