DENVER, (UPI) -- Jason Hammel hurled eight shutout innings and scored the only run of the game Saturday, leading the Colorado Rockies to a 1-0 decision over Toronto.
Hammel (4-3) sparkled in an eight-inning, 106-pitch performance against the powerful Blue Jays lineup. He allowed only three hits, walked three and struck out six, letting only two runners get as far as second base.
Manuel Corpas notched his eighth save, hurling a scoreless ninth to give the Rockies their second win in a three-game inter-league series with Toronto.
Hammel coaxed a walk from Brandon Morrow (4-5) to start the sixth and took third on a single by Todd Helton. He came home with the game's sole run on a Carlos Gonzalez sacrifice fly.
Morrow allowed only the one run in six innings, surrendering five hits, walking three and striking out six.
