SAN DIEGO, (UPI) -- A three-run homer by Clint Barmes powered the Colorado Rockies past first-place San Diego 6-3 Tuesday in a matchup of National League West rivals.

Carlos Gonzalez also homered for the Rockies, who won the first two games of the series with the division-leading Padres.

Jason Hammel (6-3) won his fifth consecutive decision, giving up three runs on seven hits in six-plus innings.

Huston Street pitched the ninth for his first save. Street, who was 35-of-37 in save situations last season, was activated Tuesday after starting the season on the injured list due to an inflamed shoulder.

Wade LeBlanc (4-6) took the loss. He was charged with three runs on two hits and struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings.

LeBlanc was replaced in the seventh by Eduard Mujica, who promptly served up the home-run pitch to Barmes that put Colorado ahead 4-0.

Jerry Hairston's three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh made it 4-3 but Colorado tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the ninth before Street came aboard and retired the Padres final three batters in order.
