CHICAGO, (UPI) -- Ervin Santana allowed a lone unearned run through seven innings Thursday and the Los Angeles Angels survived a late rush to defeat the Chicago White Sox 6-5.
The Angels won for the fifth time in seven games.
Santana (3-3) scattered seven hits and struck out six. It was the first time since last September Santana had gone seven innings without giving up an earned run.
Los Angeles built a 6-1 lead through seven innings -- getting a two-run single from Kendry Morales in the first and a two-run homer from Juan Rivera in the sixth.
Kevin Jepsen relieved Santana in the eighth and gave up four runs on three hits to let the White Sox back in the game. With the tying run on second, Fernando Rodney got Andruw Jones to fly out to center to end the inning.
Brian Fuentes threw 15 pitches in a perfect ninth for his sixth save.
The loss went to Jake Peavy (3-3), who gave up six runs on eight hits in six innings.
