OAKLAND, Calif., (UPI) -- Kurt Suzuki's solo homer in the eighth inning Sunday boosted the Oakland Athletics to a 3-2 inter-league decision over Pittsburgh.
With the score tied 2-2, Pittsburgh's Evan Meek (3-2) got the first two outs in the eighth but then Suzuki belted a 2-2 pitch into the left field stands to lift Oakland to a three-game sweep of the Pirates.
Coco Crisp drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth and the A's scored on a third-inning throwing error by Pittsburgh starter Ross Ohlendorf to account for their other runs.
Craig Breslow (3-1) was credited with the win for tossing a scoreless top of the eighth and Andrew Bailey got his 14th save despite allowing two hits and a walk in the ninth.
Oakland starter Gio Gonzalez held the Pirates to one run over six innings.
