MLB: San Francisco 6, St. Louis 3
ST. LOUIS, Pablo Sandoval and Aubrey Huff both hit homers as part of a 13-hit attack Friday that lifted the San Francisco Giants to a 6-3 victory over St. Louis.

The Cardinals also had 13 hits, but stranded nine runners and had one erased in a double play. St. Louis lost its fifth straight, having begun the day 3 1/2 games behind division-leading Cincinnati in the National League Central.

Sandoval hit a solo homer in the third to give the Giants a 3-1 lead and Huff provided insurance with a two-run shot in the seventh.

San Francisco stayed a game behind Philadelphia in the NL wild-card race and inched within five games of first-place San Diego in the NL West.

Madison Bumgarner (4-5) gave up two runs on nine hits in seven-plus innings to win for the first time in five starts.

Jake Westbrook (1-1) lost his first as a member of the Cardinals. He allowed three runs on seven hits in six innings in his fourth start since being obtained from Cleveland, where he was 6-6 this season.
