MLB: San Francisco 8, Houston 2
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15 (UPI) -- Todd Wellmeyer limited Houston to two runs in 7 1/3 innings Friday, bringing San Francisco an 8-2 victory over the Astros.

Houston had won four in a row and was prevented from putting together what would have been its longest winning streak of the season.

The Giants, who managed only one hit in a loss to San Diego Thursday, had 11 of them Friday and produced a pair of three-run innings to win for the first time in four tries.

Andres Torres paced the San Francisco offense, driving in a run with a double in the second, delivering an RBI triple in the eighth and scoring twice.

Wellmeyer (2-3) allowed five hits and struck out four. He is 2-0 in his last four starts after having lost in his first three appearances this season.

Felipe Paulino remained winless, surrendering seven runs on eight hits in 4 2/3. He fell to 0-6.
