ARLINGTON, Texas, (UPI) -- Nelson Cruz had four of the 20 Texas hits Thursday, including a three-run homer, leading the Rangers to a 13-7 whipping of Baltimore.

Texas won its fifth straight and moved four games in front of Oakland for the lead in the American League West.

Cruz, Vladimir Guerrero and Matt Treanor all hit homers to account for eight runs.

Trailing by three in the eighth, Baltimore brought the potential tying run to the plate. But reliever Darren Oliver struck out Luke Scott to end the threat and Texas promptly scored five times in the bottom half of the inning to take a 13-5 lead.

Cruz contributed an RBI single in the inning and Treanor hit a three-run homer. Guerrero's blast was a two-run affair in the second, his ninth of the season.

Texas starter Scott Feldman (2-4) continued to struggle, but he hung around for six innings to get the win. He allowed four runs on 12 hits.

Brian Matusz (2-4) was roughed up for seven runs on eight hits in 2 1/3. Baltimore has lost two straight and its 13 victories are the fewest in the majors.
